A neck lift is a major component of a face lift (which is better termed a lower face and neck lift). It is done to improve neck skin laxity, fat bulging (neck waddle), and neck muscle bands (AKA platysmal bands). Any fat present is liposuctioned then the muscle bands are repaired and any excess skin trimmed away. the procedure is usually done under general anesthesia, but local anesthesia with or without sedation is also possible. Recovery is about 2-6 weeks.
