Betyana is the newest member of Dr. Jeff Popp’s staff.
She found her way to his office last December through a nurse who also works there. She answers the phone, schedules appointments, does dictation and sets up surgeries.
“Amanda, one of the nurses here, is a good friend. We work out together. So when an opening came up, she told me they wanted someone who would be a good fit,” Betyana said.
An educational job
She said working with Dr. Popp has been educational and exciting.
“He’s very kind hearted, generous and helpful,” she said. “When I first started, he allowed me to sit in on a lot of the surgeries, even though that wasn’t something I would be doing. He wanted me to understand what goes on during surgery.”
Betyana said that was helpful in her interactions with patients. She knows what she discusses and can help patients understand what happens during their particular procedure.
“He really took the time to talk me through how things work,” she said.
Scheduled and acclimated
Her favorite part of the job is to talk to patients when they come in to the office, find out what they’re there for and help them get scheduled and acclimated.
“Dr. Popp is very thorough at his consultations. He takes the time with each patient to go through every step of what to expect before, during and after surgery,” Betyana said.
“He will tell you everything you need to know, whether good or bad, all the pros and cons.â€
In her spare time, Betyana works out, spends time with her kids and participates in church activities. She and her husband also run a small side business that helps keep her busy.
